Emma Talley hit the Old American Golf Course at The Colony near Dallas on Thursday for the first round of the Volunteers of America Classic.
But Talley, one of the last players to tee off in round one, only got in 14 holes before play was stopped because of darkness at 5:10 p.m. Action will resume at 7:20 a.m. on Friday.
Players battled cold conditions in Texas with the temperature around the freezing mark when players teed off Thursday morning.
Things were a little better by the time Talley teed off in the early afternoon.
The former Caldwell County and University of Alabama standout will begin the second day in a tie for 31st at 2-over par.
Talley recorded two birdies in opening-day action but also had four bogeys to record her 2-over score.
England’s Charley Hull shot a 3-under 68 on Thursday and holds a one-stroke lead heading into the second round.
Just two events remain on the LPGA Tour 2020 schedule after this week. The Women’s U.S. Open is scheduled for next week at Champions Golf Club’s Cypress Creek Course in Houston.
The season-ending CME Group Tour Championship at Tiburón Golf Club in Naples, Fla., is the following week.
It is worth noting once again that the LPGA froze everyone’s tour status this season. That means that Talley will get to continue to play on the LPGA Tour in 2021.
