Five games into the 2020-21 girls’ basketball season, Heritage Christian Academy knows its offense will determine how many wins show up under the ‘W’ column in the standings.  Through three quarters Tuesday, HCA had enough offense to keep with Christian Community School before fading late in a 50-26 loss.

The White House, Tennessee school used a 21-3 run in the final 10 minutes to nab the win. Despite giving up size to the taller Colts, HCA got up eight more shots than their opponents and were only outrebounded by three 34-31.

Christian Community scored the game’s first seven points and led wire to wire. Heritage trailed 11-4 after one quarter but scored four straight to cut the deficit to 11-8.  While they would get no closer, they stayed within two possessions for most of the first half.

The Colts led 22-14 at halftime and 26-20 with two minutes left in the third quarter before HCA’s cold snap from the field allowed the Colts to pull away for the win.

Kinley Deason led the Lady Warriors in scoring with eight points and seven rebounds. Bailey Craft added six points and five rebounds, and Abbi Bullock chipped in with six points and two steals.

The Lady Warriors struggled to match up with Christian Community’s 6-foot-2 Michaela Pinkerton, who scored 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.  Madeline Rigsby added 13 points and nine rebounds.

Heritage Christian [0-5] is slated to have the rest of 2020 off before jumping back into action in 2021 although the schedule could change at any time and a game be added.
