Former Caldwell County Tiger Derrin Boyd had 14 points on Thursday as his Georgetown College squad defeated Lindsey Wilson College 80-68.
Boyd added three rebounds and three assists for Georgetown, which is now 6-1. The Tigers are ranked sixth in NAIA after opening the season in the No. 1 spot. Georgetown’s only loss has been at the University of the Cumberlands, which is now ranked 11th in the nation.
Boyd, a redshirt freshman, started for the fifth straight game. He was 4 for 11 from the floor on Thursday and made just one of his five 3-point attempts. He did make all five of his free throw chances.
Boyd and the Georgetown Tigers will play at home again this Saturday, hosting Cumberland University from Lebanon, Tenn., in a 3 p.m. Central time contest.
