Travis Perry picked up right where he left off last season, pouring in 25 points as Lyon County picked up a 78-57 win at Crittenden County on Tuesday.

Lyon led just 36-34 at halftime in the 5th District contest.

However, a 10-2 run to start the second half gave the Lyons the upper hand. Lyon would go on to outscore the Rockets 24-16 in the third quarter to take a 60-50 lead to the final frame.

With the lead, Lyon was able to spread the floor in the fourth quarter and stretch out the Crittenden defense. Virtually all of Lyon’s nine buckets in the last quarter came from in close as Lyon pulled away for a 21-point decision.

Jackson Shoulders had a double-double for Lyon with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Jack Reddick also had 14 points, going 5-for-5 from the floor. And Brady Shoulders also had 14 points.

Crittenden had three players score in double figures. Preston Morgeson had 14, Preston Turley 13 and Tyler Boone 10.

The contest was a tight, back-and-forth battle through the first half before Lyon was able to grab control in the second half.

The district tilt had even more importance this season. Because of the COVID threat, only the first meeting between district opponents counts toward tournament seeding this season, as mandated by the Kentucky High School Athletic Association.

The Lyons will go to Community Christian Academy in Paducah on Thursday before hosting Webster County on Friday.

Crittenden plays at home again on Saturday, facing Union County.
