Caldwell’s Girls Pull Away Late to Dismiss Livingston 59-38

Jacey Jaggers had 20 points and seven rebounds as Caldwell County’s girls picked up their first win of the season Saturday afternoon.

Majah Hollowell added 14 points for the Lady Tigers, who pulled away in the fourth quarter for a 59-38 triumph.

Caldwell (1-1) never trailed in the contest and the game was tied just once, at 2-2.

But the Lady Tigers could never quite put away the Lady Cardinals (1-2) until the final frame.

Caldwell led 15-10 after one quarter and 35-23 at halftime.

Livingston got as close as seven points in the third quarter before Caldwell took a 43-34 advantage to the fourth period.

But the Lady Tigers held the Lady Cardinals to just two field goals in the final stanza — outscoring Livingston 16-4 over the final 8 minutes to push the final margin to 21 points.

Caldwell’s biggest lead of the afternoon came at 58-36 following a bucket from in close by Karsyn Parker with 1:42 left in the contest.

Parris Gray added eight points, five steals, two rebounds and two assists for the Lady Tigers.

Livingston got 19 points and 15 rebounds from Lauren Wring in the setback. Maggie Downey added 10 points.

Caldwell has taken its last six meetings with Livingston and leads the all-time series 70-22.

The Lady Cardinals will host Lyon County Monday night in an All A Classic regional matchup.

The Lady Tigers will face the Livingston-Lyon winner Thursday night in the All A semifinals in Smithland.
