Hopkins County Central Sets 2021 Football Dates

Hopkins County Central will kick off the 2021 football season on the road on Friday, Aug. 20, with a trip to Webster County.

The Storm will play its first game at home a week later against Union County.

Hopkins Central announced its 2021 schedule recently on social media.

The Storm went 1-5 last season with three games canceled because of COVID-19.

Hopkins Central will play three of its first four games on the road this fall, with road dates at Muhlenberg County on Sept. 3 and Todd County Central on Sept. 10.

A home date against Ballard Memorial is set for Sept. 17.

The Storm will take the next week off before beginning Class 4A 1st District play at Logan County on Oct. 1.

A district game at Calloway County is set for Oct. 8.

The Storm will finish the regular season with three straight home games. That starts against district foe Madisonville-North Hopkins on Oct. 15.

Hopkins Central’s one win in 2020 was a 40-35 victory over its in-county rival. It was the Storm’s first win over the Maroons since 2003.

The final 2021 district game is Oct. 22 against Hopkinsville.

The Storm will finish the regular season against McLean County on Oct. 29.

Hopkins Central has also announced that it will be hosting the Storm Classic on July 24. That’s a summer 7-on-7 tournament for high school squads.

Chris Manning is entering his second season as Storm football head coach.
