For the second time in as many games, the Todd County Central boys’ basketball team couldn’t hold a fourth-quarter lead, falling 55-47 to Monroe County on Monday in the first round of the 4th-Region All “A” tournament.

Tucker Glass and John Harlin staked Monroe County to an early lead with a combined 12 first-quarter points, helping the Falcons to a 5-point edge despite 7 points from Todd Central’s Amari Andrews.

The Rebels stormed back in the second behind 8 points with two 3-pointers from Preston Rager, outscoring the Falcons by 11 to take a 32-26 advantage into the locker room at halftime.

Neither team could find the range after the break, combining for only 16 points, and the Rebels led by 4 with a quarter to play.  On Saturday, Todd Central led Cumberland County by 11 points after three quarters but was outscored 22-7 to fall 57-53.

The Rebels were once again overwhelmed over the final eight minutes, with Monroe County’s Deaton Emmert scoring all 10 of his points to help the Falcons engineer a 16-point swing to secure the win.  Todd Central only made four trips to the free-throw line, while Monroe County finished the game 15/26.

Andrews finished with 8 points and was named to the 4th-Region All “A” Tournament team, with Jacob Brandon earning All “A” Academic Team recognition.  The Rebels will be back on the court on Friday when they travel to Russellville to begin 13th-District play.
