Caldwell's Cofy Walls wrestles Ohio's Petey Graham at 126 pounds Thursday night in Princeton.
Caldwell County’s wrestlers split a pair of home dual matches on Thursday. The Tiger matmen dispatched Ohio County 53-12 before bowing to the No. 1-ranked team in the state, Union County. The Tigers were competitive in most of the matches against the Braves, but Union still won the competition 52-12.
Union also beat Ohio in wrestling at the Caldwell County Middle School gym.
Caldwell had four wrestlers win by pin against Ohio — Logan Brown at 106 pounds, Collin Teutsch at 113, Riley Johnson at 132 and Jackson Riley at 145.
Cofy Walls claimed a 16-2 decision at 126. John Paredes won 6-1 at 160 and Cole Sherill captured a 4-2 decision at 220.
Against Union, Caldwell won just one match by pin. Paredes recorded a second period pin at 160.
At 170, Dylan Walls used a late escape to pull out a 6-5 victory.
Cofy Walls won his match 5-3 at 126.
Caldwell is scheduled to wrestle Saturday at Calloway County.
