Kentucky finally is going to get Wan’Dale Robinson in uniform. The dynamic former Western Hills High School star confirmed today on Twitter that he would be transferred to UK after spending the last two years at Nebraska.

Robinson is as good as any high school player I ever saw play. He amassed over 8,500 all-purpose yards and scored almost 800 points at Western Hills where he made plays at receiver, quarterback, running back, kick returner, punt returner and defensive back.

He was recruited by a Who’s Who of college football. He committed to UK initially but then flipped his commitment to Nebraska before signing day. Robinson led the Huskers with 51 catches and 461 receiving yards in eight games during the 2020 season and also rushed for 240 yards. As a freshman he caught 40 passes for 443 yards and two touchdowns, rushed for 340 yards and three scores, amassed 1,029 all-purpose yards.

Robinson indicated the major reason for leaving Nebraska was to be closer to his mother, who has had several medical issues after getting COVID-19.

Robinson could be the perfect big-play receiver in new offensive coordinator Liam Coen’s pro-style offense. He should take a lot of pressure off Josh Ali, UK’s leading receiver in 2020 who is coming back for his extra year. Same with running back Chris Rodriguez who may not face as many eight-man defensive fronts with UK having the threat of a legitimate big-play receiver.

Robinson and redshirt freshman quarterback Beau Allen have been friends for years and often talked about playing together in college. Now that’s going to happen.

Robinson may also be able to help the Wildcats in the return game, another area where UK has lacked big-play production in recent seasons.
