On Saturday in Elkton, every point of the Todd County Central girls’ basketball team’s 45-31 win over Cumberland County was scored by underclassmen, but that doesn’t mean the steadying influence of lone senior Jayla Leavell is forgotten.
The Lady Rebels paid tribute to Leavell, as well as 8th-grader Alexis Taylor, ahead of Saturday’s win over the Lady Panthers. Taylor joined the varsity team last season, posting over 3 points and almost 2 rebounds in seven appearances, while Leavell appeared in all 27 games as a junior with averages of 3 points and 2.5 rebounds per outing.
