Elli Buckingham is busy splitting her time between cheering for Heritage Christian Academy and the Bluegrass Cheercats competition squad. She has also added ‘model’ to the many hats she wears.
Buckingham was selected from thousands of applicants to be a model for Varsity Spirit, who is one of the leaders in cheer apparel, camps, and competitions.
Buckingham said she applied in 2019 but did not make the final cut. She applied again in 2020 and learned in September she was chosen as a Varsity All-Star Fashionista.
In November, Buckingham flew to Dallas to take part in a fashion shoot for the company. She said she will grace both magazine and web pages of Varsity Spirit’s 2021 catalog. While she had fun at the photo shoot, she doesn’t know which images will be used and is anxious to see the February rollout of the catalog.
In the meantime, Buckingham will continue to support the Heritage Christian Academy basketball teams as a member of the school’s cheer squad.
She also looks forward to when the Cheercats will resume their usual busy competitions throughout the United States. In the meantime, the Cheercats are using the virtual platform to stay sharp and perform their routines in preparation for a hopeful return to normal before long.
