Make it now three wins in a row for the Trigg County Lady Wildcats. The Lady Wildcats used a 9-0 run to open the second half to pull away from a game UHA Lady Blazers squad on their way to a 65-29 win Tuesday night at Blazer Gym.

The run broke open an 11 point game as Trigg County limited the Lady Blazers to just eight second half points. UHA, with only seven players dressed for the contest, battled the Lady Wildcats throughout the opening half, but just appeared to run out of gas over the final sixteen minutes.

With Trigg County battling the turnover bug early, and the Lady Blazers fighting hard on the glass, the game stayed a competitive battle through the first half. Trigg County scored the first four points of the game and never trailed during the contest. With a strong finish to the opening quarter from Adri Phillips, Trigg County was able to work their way out to a 16-9 first quarter lead.

The Lady Wildcats pushed the lead out to 13 points at 22-9. Thanks to the efforts of Alecia Davis and Amaryia Bass, the Lady Blazers fought back to within six at 22-16, but they could get no closer as Trigg County finished the half outscoring UHA 10-5 to take a 32-21 lead into the break.

Adri Phillips, Kinizah Grubbs, and D’Aria Barbee keyed the game sealing 9-0 run to open the third quarter giving Trigg County a 41-21 lead and effectively ending the contest.

Trigg County in the second half was able to rein in the turnover bug and began to take over on the boards as the Lady Blazers “legs” began to fade. The Lady Wildcat lead was at 47-26 when the quarter ended.

UHA’s offensive struggles continued over the final eight minutes, as the Lady Blazers were held to just three points in the final quarter, as Trigg County rolled on out to the final 36 point margin.

Adri Phillips paced the way for Trigg County with 17 points. Marleigh Reynolds added 15 and was a dominant factor for the Lady Wildcats on the boards, especially in the second half. Kara Hyde also reached double figures with 11.

UHA was led by Breanna Daniel with 10, including two made three pointers, all coming in the first half. Alecia Davis finished with nine points for the Lady Blazers.

With their third win in a row, Trigg County improves to 3-3 on the season.

UHA falls to 0-3.

The two teams will meet again Saturday evening at 6:00 in Wildcat Gym.
