Some teams getting ready to play, some teams now waiting again to play. That is sort of the theme of the 2021 basketball season so far. For the moment, one thing has remained the same from last week to this, that being the Lyon County Lyons holding down the top spot in the YourSportsEdge.Com 2nd Region Boys’ Basketball “Super 7.”
– Lyon County (6-0) – The Lyons hot start continues as they picked up the All A regional championship and figure to make some noise in Richmond come February. Interesting matchup with Graves County coming up.
– Christian County (0-0) – Mark the calendar for January 26. That appears to be the date we get to start finding out about this year’s edition of the Colonels, as they will be coming out of protocol.
– Hopkinsville (1-0) – The Tigers were impressive in their season opening win at Trigg County. Three tough road games over four nights will tell us much more about this team.
– University Heights (1-5) – Is there any team more snake bit than the Blazers right now. They lose three games by a total of eight points, and then find out they have to shut down because of a possible exposure in their game against Madisonville.
– Henderson County (1-2) – The northern Colonels fell to Evansville Memorial and then struggled to get past a Daviess County team that got blasted by Meade County.
– Madisonville-North Hopkins (3-1) – They looked to be getting things on track with a come from behind win against UHA, then COVID hit, and the Maroons had to enter protocol, taking the Blazers with them.
– Webster County (5-2) – Other than their loss to Lyon County, the only blemish for the Trojans is a loss to Evansville Reitz. This team has potential to make some noise.
