Alijah Watts led three Hopkinsville Tigers in double figures with 21 points, but Cade Stinnett dropped 28 to lead the host Greenwood Gators to a 74-62 victory on Wednesday night. The Tigers are 1-1 ahead of a trip to Muhlenberg County on Friday, while Greenwood improves to 4-3 overall.
The Tigers led 10-6 after the first quarter, but Greenwood posted 26 second-quarter points to outscored Hoptown by 8 and take a 32-28 advantage at halftime.
Greenwood continued to stretch the lead in the third, adding 6 points to the cushion for a 55-45 lead with a quarter to play. Hoptown scored 17 points over the final eight minutes but were outscored by 3 for the final 12-point margin.
Alijah Watts led the Tigers with 21, but Cade Stinnett led all scorers with 28 for the Gators. Reece Jesse and Daisjaun Mercer joined Watts in double figures with 12 and 11, respectively.
