Former Caldwell County Tiger standout Derrin Boyd hit six 3-pointers and finished with 20 points as his Georgetown Tigers won 94-76 Thursday night at Bethel University in McKenzie, Tenn.
Georgetown trailed by nine points early, but stormed back to take a 47-31 advantage at halftime.
Boyd, a redshirt freshman, was 7 of 14 from the field and made six of his 11 3-point tries.
Georgetown is now 10-3 on the season.
Boyd has pushed his season scoring average to 18.1 points a game.
Georgetown College stays on the road to finish its swing through Tennessee with a game Saturday against Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson, Tenn.
Thursday’s Georgetown game at Bethel had another local connection. One of the referees for that contest was Ford Branch Jr. of Princeton.
