On an evening where heavy rains had caused issues all across the area, it was a balanced offense and a stout 2nd quarter defensive effort that turned out to be a troublesome combination for the Todd County Central Lady Rebels Monday night. Four Calloway County Lady Lakers scored in double figures as they picked up the 64-30 home court win over the Todd County Central Lady Rebels.
The Lady Rebels trailed only 16-9 after the first eight minutes of play. Then the Lady Lakers put a vise on the Todd Central offense, limiting the Lady Rebels to just two second quarter points, while scoring 20 of their own to take a 36-11 lead at the break. From that point, the Lady Lakers were able to keep the Lady Rebels at arm’s length.
The lead would be 50-20 when the third quarter came to an end.
For the Lady Rebels, Alexis Taylor led the way with 15 points, Abby Williams chipped in with 11.
Addi Schumacher topped the scoring list for Calloway County with 19 points. Skylar Waller finished with a double-double at 15 points and 10 rebounds. Elle Carson and Madison Futrell also hit double figures with 14 points and 12 points respectively.
Calloway County knocked down 8 three-pointers in the game. Seven of those coming from Schumacher and Futrell.
Todd Central drops to 3-6 with their third straight loss. The Lady Rebels are set to be back in action Friday night at home in a district matchup against Franklin-Simpson.
The win, which was the 4th in a row for Calloway County, improved the Lady Lakers to 7-2 on the season. They return to action Friday night on the road at Christian County.
