Eli Brown raced coast to coast and hit a shot with .09 seconds left to lift Paducah Tilghman to a 62-61 win over Christian County Friday.
Tilghman led by as many as 14 points in the first half before the Colonels battled back and took a 59-53 lead on a Bubba Leavell steal and bucket with 1:33 left.
Tilghman scored the next five points in 50 seconds to get to within 59-58 with 30 seconds left.
DeBryan Johnson hit two free throws with 28 seconds remaining to push the Colonel lead to 61-58.
Tilghman’s Mian Shaw was fouled going to the basket with 10 seconds left. He both free throws to make the score 61-60.
Christian County was fouled with 6.8 seconds left but missed both free throws. Brown rebounded the second miss and went the length of the floor for the game-winner. He was fouled on the make and missed the free throw intentionally after a Tilghman timeout so the final tick would run off the clock.
Tilghman survived shooting 11 of 20 at the free throw line in the second half and missing 16 of 17 three-point shots in the game.
The Colonels missed five free throws in the fourth quarter in dropping their fourth straight game to the Tornado.
Freshmen Derrell Bateman and JaSean Riley each scored 12 points for Christian County. Bubba Leavell added 11 points.
Landon Fitzgerald led Paducah Tilghman’s scoring effort with 17 points.
Christian County will host McCracken County Saturday night at Lyle Dunbar Gym.
