After starting the season with six-straight losses, the Todd County Central boys’ basketball team picked up its third win on the bounce with a 59-37 win at Cloverport on Saturday. Just like they did in the teams’ first meeting a week ago, the Rebels came back from a halftime deficit and pulled away in the second half to knock off the Aces.
A low-scoring first quarter ended with the Rebels leading by a point, but they would find themselves trailing at the halftime break. Amari Andrews scored 6 points in the second quarter for the Rebels, but the Aces got 5 from Payton Blair and outscored Todd Central 16-14 to lead 24-23.
After a scoreless first half, Preston Moore got going for the Rebels with 6 points in the third, with Will Kearns coming off the bench to add five. Todd Central took a 40-34 advantage with a quarter to play.
The Rebels blew the game open in the fourth, holding the Aces to only 3 points and stretching the final margin to 22. Kearns and Moore combined for 9 points, with Logan Burgess scoring 6 of his 10 points to close the show.
A chance to avenge a season-opening loss presents itself on Tuesday, with the Rebels hosting Christian Fellowship. The Eagles topped Todd Central 60-38 in the teams’ first meeting in Benton.
