Shorthanded Caldwell Girls Fall at Mayfield 65-44

Playing without their top two scorers, the Caldwell County Lady Tigers struggled to match up with the Mayfield Lady Cardinals on Saturday.

Host Mayfield bolted to a 20-6 lead after one quarter and dealt Caldwell a 65-44 setback,

The Lady Tigers were without guards Jacey Jaggers and Majah Hollowell and their combined 27 points a game. Both are still out with ankle injuries.

Down 40-15 at halftime, the Lady Tigers outscored Mayfield 15-7 in the third quarter. However, Mayfield still led 47-30.

Halie Duke hit seven 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 23 points for the Lady Cardinals. Hayley Sullivan added 17 points and Skylar Mandry had 11.

Caldwell got 10 points from Parris Gray and eight from Katy Smiley.

It was the third-straight setback for the Lady Tigers, who are now 3-5.

Mayfield (8-3) has won three straight and five of its last six outings.

The Lady Tigers will next visit Lyon County on Tuesday as part of a girls and boys doubleheader.
