Not much new in this week’s YSE 2nd Region Girls’ “Super 7.” Henderson County continues to hold a vise-like grip on the #1 spot. The question is can Webster County loosen that grip when the two teams meet this week in Dixon, or does Henderson County make a loud statement that the region title will have to be won going through them. Also, can any team in the region make a late-season darkhorse run towards the top? We shall see.
– Henderson County (6-1) – The northern Lady Colonels have now won four in a row, and none of the four have even been close. A big game coming up Friday night at Webster County.
– Webster County (3-5) – The Lady Trojans came out of protocol with a big win against Union County. A chance to make a statement coming up Friday when they host Henderson County.
– Crittenden County (9-2) – The Lady Rockets have won three in a row and are getting ready to make the trip to Richmond for the All A Classic in just over a week. A nice test against Union County coming up.
– Christian County (3-2) – The Lady Colonels from the south were right in it until late against Calloway County. Mark down February 8 as a big test to see where this team stands when they take on Webster County.
– Lyon County (7-4) – The Lady Lyons have now won four of their last five, and their defense can be pretty stout. If they can get their offense to come along, could be a darkhorse team in the region.
– Trigg County (7-5) – The Lady Wildcats have now won six of their last eight, with the only losses being tight district affairs against Lyon County and Crittenden County. Christian & Calloway back-to-back will provide stern tests.
– Union County (4-5) – The Bravettes dropped a pair of games in the district, which is no big stunner since they live in the district with Henderson County and Webster County. The schedule ahead gives them the chance to build some momentum.
