A night after rolling past University Heights Academy on the Blazers’ home floor, top-ranked Bowling Green took on another 8th District opponent, this time the Christian County Colonels, and this time it was on the Purples’ home court. While the location and team were different, the result was much the same as the Purples remained unbeaten, running by the Colonels 63-27.
As they had against University Heights, Bowling Green delivered a big shot early. The Purples limited Christian County to just three first quarter points, as they scored the first 14 points, and jumped out to a 16-3 lead after the first eight minutes of the game.
The second quarter saw more of the same. The Purples’ defense again held Christian County to single figures in a quarter, while the Bowling Green offense was more than potent enough on this Tuesday evening. By the time the two teams headed off to the locker room at the break, the Bowling Green lead had grown to 37-11.
Bowling Green, with their balanced attack and pressure defense, continued to keep things rolling along as the second half got underway. The Purples opened the 2nd half with a 10-0 run, which brought the running clock into play. The quickly played quarter would end with the Purples’ lead up to 56-21.
With the big lead, Bowling Green reserves would see extensive action in the fourth quarter. The Purples would end up outscoring Christian County 7-6 over the final eight minutes to finish out the win.
Christian County was lead by Bubba Leavell with 9 points. Jordan Miles added 7 for the Colonels.
Bowling Green was led by Turner Buttry, who finished the game with 17 points. Isaiah Mason was the only other player to reach double figures in the game with 10.
Christian County drops to 0-4 on the season. The Colonels are back in action Friday night when they host University Heights in an 8th District battle.
Bowling Green moves to 8-0 on the season. They will go across town to take on Warren Central Friday night.
