After being off for 12 days due to COVID-19 protocols, the Franklin-Simpson Wildcats looked ready to get back to work Thursday night. The Wildcats got a huge night from senior Andreyous Miller as they cruised to a 63-47 13th District win over the Todd County Central Rebels in Elkton.

Miller scored 13 of his game-high 27 points in the second quarter as Franklin-Simpson broke open a tight game and took control of the contest.

The Rebels opened with a solid first quarter. Using a patient offense and a zone defense, Todd County Central took an early 6-2 lead. Franklin-Simpson battled back to take a 12-10 lead at the end of the quarter. Amari Andrews helped get the Rebels off to a good start, scoring six points in the first eight minutes of the game.

The Wildcats cranked up the defensive pressure, breaking out a full-court press and made their move coming out of the gate in the second quarter. With Miller scoring ten points and the Rebels having ball security issues against the Wildcats’ pressure, Franklin-Simpson opened the quarter on a 12-2 run to dash out to a 24-12 lead. When the half ended, the Wildcat lead was at 27-16. Miller finished the half with 15 points.

From that point on, the Rebels would only get within 10 points on one occasion for the rest of the game. Franklin-Simpson would lead by as many as 19 points in the second half of play, before settling in for the 16 point win.

Todd Central was led by Amari Andrews, who finished the game with 20 points. Logan Burgess added 7 points, all of them coming in the 4th quarter.

Franklin-Simpson’s Andreyous Miller led all scorers with 27 points. Kyjuan Stutzman was the other Wildcat to reach double figures with 14.

Todd Central falls to 3-8 overall and 0-3 in the district.
