Lyon County’s girls held Dawson Springs to just nine points in the second half while rolling to a 66-29 victory Saturday afternoon in the Akridge Farm Supply Ace Hardware Shootout in Eddyville.
Dawson (0-6) tried to keep things close early and was tied 7-7 in the first quarter.
But Lyon got to the end of the stanza with an 18-11 lead and opened up a 39-20 margin at halftime.
The Lady Lyons (9-4) put the game away by outscoring the Lady Panthers 22-3 in the third quarter. That made it 51-23.
Rose Smith had 19 points and 12 rebounds to lead Lyon’s girls while Calista Collins had 17 points and 14 rebounds. Lilly Perry had nine points while Kenttavia Matthews had 11 rebounds to go with two points. Katelyn Dykes had eight points.
Abby Ward topped the Lady Panther scoresheet with 10 points. Gracie Harper added nine.
It was the first of two games for the Lady Lyons in the annual Shootout. Lyon will face Butler County later on Saturday.
