Heritage Christian Academy ‘Zieged’ when Oak Ridge Christian zagged, and it helped the Lady Warriors to a 49-46 overtime win Saturday.
Hallie Zieg scored 18 points, including 11 in the third quarter, to spark the Lady Warrior offense. She hit was 4 of 8 behind the 3-point line.
Down 22-18 at halftime, HCA outscored Oak Ridge 19-8 in the third quarter to grab a 37-30 lead.
Hannah Jones led a fourth quarter comeback for Oak Ridge before fouling out. She led all scorers with 29 points.
Both teams had their chance to win the game at the free throw line thanks to 39 fouls called in the contest. Heritage was able to hit two more than Oak Ridge with the hosts missing all six of their overtime attempts.
Kinley Deason also scored 18 points for HCA and added eight steals. Abbi Bullock had six points and six assists. Bailey Craft added five points and six rebounds.
The win was HCA’s second in KCAA play this year and avenged a 17-point loss to Oak Ridge earlier this year in Hopkinsville.
HCA returns to action on Feb. 16 at Northside Baptist.
