Early Blitz Carries Lady Rebels Past UHA

Todd County Central converted turnovers to points early and coasted to a 37-25 win over University Heights Academy Monday.

The Lady Rebels held UHA scoreless in the first quarter and extended it to 21-0 as UHA committed 18 turnovers in the first 16 minutes.

Abby Williams scored 15 of her game-high 17 points in the first half.  She knocked down a trio of 3-pointers in the second quarter to help extend the Todd County lead.

Alecia Davis ended the scoring drought with 2:30 left in the first half.

Todd County had trouble pushing the lead out further due to nine turnovers of its own in the first half to go with 28-percent shooting from the field.

Up 21-6 at halftime, Todd County upped it to a 31-13 lead midway through the third quarter.

Lucy Chester scored all seven of her points in the third quarter, including a bucket at the end of the quarter.

Brittyn Northington paced UHA in the third quarter with six of her 11 points.  She also added five rebounds.

Alecia Davis and Breanna Daniel each scored six points for UHA with David adding nine rebounds.

Chester had 12 rebounds and three assists to add to her seven points for Todd County.  Williams had four steals along with her 17 points, and Ciara Collins had four steals and three assists.

Todd County outrebounded UHA 40-32.

UHA will host Butler County Saturday and will see Todd County Central again next Tuesday in Hopkinsville.

The Lady Rebels are 7-7, equaling the program’s win total over the past two seasons combined.  They are working toward the school’s first winning season in eight years.

Todd will travel to Ohio County Tuesday.
