Caldwell County grad Katie Van Hooser will finish up her senior volleyball season at Bethel University in McKenzie, Tennessee, this spring.

Bethel was 1-2 in the fall before play was stopped due to COVID-19.

The Lady Wildcats were scheduled to resume their season Thursday night in Batesville, Arkansas, facing Lyon College, but that was postponed because of the weather. That date will be played March 16.

Bethel is now slated to resume play on Monday, Feb. 15, at home against Cumberland University. But the weather forecast is leaving that date questionable as well.

The Lady Cats will transition into the Mid-South Conference, playing a 16-game league schedule this season. Bethel has previously been a member of the Southern States Athletic Conference.

Bethel finished 22-13 overall in 2019 and 11-2 in the SSAC.

Van Hooser is one of two senior setters with the Lady Wildcats.

At Caldwell, Van Hooser graduated as the school’s all-time leader in set assists with 2,073. She is still second on that list.

Another former Caldwell County Lady Tiger, Sheadon Allen, is at Rend Lake College, which begins play Friday, Feb. 26, at Kaskaskia College.

Allen had 223 kills and 212 digs last season as a freshman with the Lady Warriors, who finished the 2019 season with a 13-20 record.
