Tyler Shemwell tallied a hit and walk for Murray State University as the Racers opened its softball season in Mississippi over the weekend.
The Christian County High alum had a single in five at-bats while getting the start in left field Saturday. Murray State lost to Southern Illinois 3-1 and to Southern Mississippi by a 2-1 score Saturday. Murray State bounced back Sunday to beat North Dakota 9-1 before falling to Southern Illinois again by a 6-0 score.
Murray State is scheduled to play in the South Alabama Tournament this weekend in Mobile, Ala.
