Weather has kept most teams off the court over the past week. That, in turn, means no movement, up or down, in this week’s YSE 2nd Region Girls’ Basketball “Super 7.” The top two teams in the region continue to be district rivals Henderson County and Webster County. Will any other team make a statement that they intend to be a factor as the season winds its way towards tournament time.
– Henderson County (7-1) – The northern Lady Colonels have not seen the court since their big win over Webster County on February 5. The return match is scheduled for Thursday. Note I say “scheduled.”
– Webster County (5-7) – The Lady Trojans lost a tough game at Breckinridge County, who may be the best team in the 3rd Region this season. Will be interesting to see how they do in the return match against Henderson, if weather allows it to happen.
– Lyon County (10-4) – The Lady Lyons have not played over the past week. An interesting rematch coming up, as they will take on Crittenden County February 23. The Lady Rockets have handed the Lady Lyons two of their losses earlier in the season.
– Crittenden County (9-3) – The Lady Rockets are another team that has not been able to get to the court over the past several days. Game with Trigg, Lyon, and Caldwell loom on the horizon.
– Christian County (5-3) – The Lady Colonels have had several days off. Scheduled is a Thursday night matchup with Hopkinsville, which could be at risk due to weather conditions. Big tests ahead the following week.
– Union County (5-5) – The Bravettes last game was a big win over Crittenden County. Weather will determine when they finally get back to action. Schedule has some winnable games giving them a chance to build a little momentum.
– Trigg County (7-7) – The Lady Wildcats have seen some ups and downs so far this season. Still, do not count this team out come district tournament time, which, by the way, happens to be on their home court.
