Matchups (Almost) Finalized for Marshall County HoopFest

The schedule has required several rewrites, but Marshall County has announced its plans for this weekend’s HoopFest at Reed Conder Gymnasium in Draffenville.

Nine games are now planned for this Saturday and Sunday.

Murray (8-5) and Madisonville-North Hopkins (5-3) will tip things off at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday followed by Bardstown (7-7) and Paducah Tilghman (7-2) at 1:00.

McCracken County (13-3), rated No. 1 in the 1st Region, faces undefeated Louisville Ballard (6-0), the top-rated team from the 7th Region, at 2:30.

Marshall County’s 1st Region favorite girls’ team will take on Louisville Mercy (6-8) at 5:30. The Lady Marshals are 13-1 and haven’t lost since their season opener to Bethlehem

Caldwell County grad and former Hopkinsville High School girls’ head coach D.G. Sherrill and his Bowling Green Purples squad will face Fern Creek in a 7 p.m. boys’ matchup. Bowling Green (11-1) was ranked No. 1 in the state before suffering its first loss of the season last weekend at Elizabethtown. Fern Creek (4-2) is one of the top teams in the 6th Region.

Marshall’s guys (3-7) finish the night at 8:30 against the 16th Region’s top-rated team, Ashland Blazer (8-2).

An opponent is still being sought for the Lady Marshals’ game at 1:00 on Sunday.

Graves County’s guys (10-4) face Ashland Blazer at 2:30.

The event is scheduled to conclude with Marshall’s guys taking on Thomas Nelson (8-3) at 4:00 Sunday afternoon.
