Caldwell Wrestlers Go 3-2 at Own Armstrong Tiger Classic

Caldwell County went 3-2 in its own Armstrong Tiger Classic wrestling tournament on Saturday.

The Tiger matmen opened the day at the CAB gym in Princeton by defeating Calloway County 60-17.

Caldwell won five matches by pin — Logan Brown at 106, Cofy Walls at 126, John Paredes at 160, Colin Walls at 182 and Cole Sherill at 220.

The Tigers then routed Owensboro Catholic 69-6, with the Aces’ only points coming on a forfeit.

Brown won by pin at 106 while Timothy Nichols pinned his opponent at 120 and Cofy Walls won by pin at 126. Dylan Walls needed just 17 seconds to win his match at 170 by pin, then Colin Walls took just seven seconds to record a pin at 182.

Caldwell suffered its first loss against Paducah Tilghman, dropping that contest 47-25.

Paredes won his match by an 8-5 decision while Dylan Walls won his match 11-3.

Caldwell was defeated by Union County 60-6 in its next match.

The Tigers’ six points came on a 3-2 victory by Cofy Walls and a 4-2 win by Riley Johnson.

Caldwell finished the day by defeating Ohio County 44-30.

Winning by pin were Brown at 106, Collin Teutsch at 113 and Sherill at 220.
Cofy Walls won 13-3 by 126 and Johnson won 11-0 at 132.

Union went 5-0 in the Armstrong Tiger Classic while Tilghman was 4-1.

The event was planned as a 10-team tournament, but turned into a six-team event when some of the schools originally in the field were unable to attend.

Caldwell’s wrestlers will hit the mat again on Thursday when they visit Henderson County.
