Caldwell County product Derrin Boyd led Georgetown College with 17 points on Saturday, but the Tigers dropped their regular-season finale to Thomas More 57-53.
The Tigers (15-6, 12-6 Mid-South Conference) finish league play as the second-best team in the Mid-South, earn a bye in the opening round games of the postseason tournament on Tuesday. Georgetown will play the second lowest remaining seed after those games on Sunday at Bowling Green High School.
Georgetown led much of the first half, but a late spurt by the Saints (14-8, 12-8) had the visitors up four at the break.
The Tigers clawed back and in the first five minutes had their largest second half lead of three following a basket by Jaquay Wales.
Georgetown’s final lead of the game came when Wales found Michael Turay for a bucket off a turnover, 45-44.
Thomas More finished on a 13-8 run over the final 8-plus minutes.
Boyd, who had three rebounds on Saturday, finished the regular season averaging 16.9 points a game.
