Greenwood junior Cade Stinnett scored a school-record 41 points to help the Gators beat Christian County 79-55 Tuesday in Bowling Green.

Stinnett came into the game averaging 17 points a game and nearly matched that with a 13-point first quarter.

Greenwood led 44-32 at halftime and built its lead by outscoring the Colonels 21-14 in the third quarter.

Stinnett’s outburst broke the previous school record of 40 points set by Daymeon Fishback and Luke Littrell.

Bubba Leavell scored 18 points for the Colonels, who were playing for the first time in 22 days.  The Colonels dropped to 0-5 thanks to a pair of stints in COVID-19 protocol and winter weather.

Christian County begins a stretch of three district games over the next six days. The Colonels will host UHA Thursday in a contest that counts toward postseason seeding for the district tournament.

After playing at UHA Saturday, the Colonels will play at Hopkinsville Monday in the final district game that counts toward seeding.  Because of COVID-19 guidelines, only the first game against district opponents is counted toward postseason seeding in the 2020-21 basketball season.
