Lyons Edge Out UHA for Top Slot in YSE 2nd Region Boys “Super 7”

As we head down the stretch of the different season that is the 2021 basketball season, there are some teams that have played a bunch of games, while others have played very few. For example, Lyon County has 20 games in the book, while Hoptown has managed to play only four. What that means for the postseason is yet to be seen. For now, the Lyons again find a way to hold the top spot in this weeks YSE 2nd Region Boys’ Basketball “Super 7.”

1 – Lyon County (17-3) – After dropping a gut wrenching decision to Murray in the All A Classic, the Lyons rebounded the way a regional contender has to, by laying a beatdown on their next opponent. A big game at McCracken County on Thursday.

2 – University Heights (5-7) – The Blazers had 1st Region favorite McCracken County on the ropes before the Mustangs pulled out a two point overtime win. The Blazers are a total of ten points away from being 9-3. Very dangerous postseason team at this point.

3 – Webster County (14-5) – The Trojans dropped a pair of games against 1st Region opponents Graves County and Paducah Tilghman. Big test games ahead against Crittenden County, UHA, and Lyon County, will tell us more about this team headed into tourney time.

4 – Madisonville-North Hopkins (6-4) – The Maroons came out of the weather shutdown with a win over Owensboro and a loss to the same Murray team that eliminated Lyon County in the All A Classic. The Maroons about to get busy with nine games before the end of the season.

5 – Hopkinsville (2-2) – The Tigers are finally set to return to the court Thursday night at Caldwell County. They will either be the freshest team in the region or the rustiest by the time they get to play.

6 – Henderson County (7-8) – The northern Colonels snagged wins over a pair of Evansville schools, while losing to a very good Owensboro Catholic team. A game to keep your eye on is a March 10 trip to University Heights.

7 – Union County (11-7) – The Braves won a pair of games you would expect them to, and then lost to the Murray team that upended Lyon County. Their challenge at this point is to find a way just to get out of the 6th District tournament.
