Caldwell County grad Derrin Boyd has been named the Mid-South Conference Freshman of the Year.
In his first collegiate season, Boyd played in 21 games for the Tigers and was the team’s second leading scorer with a 16.9 points per game average. Boyd shot 46.4 percent from the field in the regular season.
Boyd was also named All-Mid-South Conference First Team.
Boyd helped Georgetown earn the No. 2 seed for the Mid-South Conference tournament. The Tigers will face No. 7 Pikeville Sunday at 5 p.m. in the conference tourney quarterfinals at Bowling Green High School.
At Caldwell, Boyd finished his career fourth on the Tigers’ all-time scoring list with 1,911 points.
