Former Caldwell County standout Derrin Boyd and his Georgetown Tigers have advanced to the semifinals of the Mid-South Conference Tournament.
Second-seeded Georgetown picked up a 76-74 victory over seventh-seeded Pikeville in the quarterfinals Sunday at Bowling Green High School.
Boyd, who was named the Mid-South Conference Freshman of the Year last week, had 15 points and three rebounds to help the Tigers get past Pikeville.
Kyran Jones led Georgetown, recording a double-double with a team-high 20 points while grabbing a game-high 11 rebounds.
Georgetown will next play Thomas More in the semifinal round Monday night at 7:30.
No. 3-seed Thomas More defeated sixth-seeded Freed-Hardmen 78-61 in Sunday’s late quarterfinal game.
Top-seeded Shawnee State takes on No. 5 Martin Methodist in Monday’s first semifinal game at 5 p.m.
The championship game is Tuesday at 5 p.m.
