In nine seasons as Christian County girls’ coach, Anthony Hickey was 13-11 when his team played Hopkinsville.  Now at Warren Central, Hickey has added another win to that total after the Lady Dragons beat Hoptown 55-39 Monday in Bowling Green.

Hoptown was playing just its second game after a 22-day layoff due to COVID-19 and the weather.  The Lady Tigers kept the game close in the first quarter, but Warren Central used a 13-4 second quarter run to grab a 28-16 lead at halftime.

The Lady Dragons extended its lead to 43-24 by the end of the third quarter.

Sophomore Saniyah Shelton led all scorers with 27 points for Warren Central, who improved to 7-6. Hickey will get a chance to meet his former team and former assistant coach when Kiki Radford and the Lady Colonels visit Bowling Green Tuesday.

Hopkinsville dropped to 1-5 and will open a four-game homestand Tuesday when Owensboro visits Tiger Gym.
