Jeff Jackson Notches 600th Career Coaching Win

Former University Heights Academy basketball coach Jeff Jackson was on the bench for his 600th career coaching win last week.

Jackson, in his 18th season at Lincoln County, has the Patriots off to a 9-6 start. Their 80-33 win over Casey County Saturday was the 600th for Jackson.

He was an assistant coach at Marshall County for four seasons before replacing Allan Hatcher as head coach in 1989.  Jackson was 33-21 in two seasons at Marshall County before taking the University Heights Academy job prior to the 1991-92 season.

The Blazers went 33-6 in Jackson’s first season and won the school’s only KHSAA state championship.  Jackson also won region titles in 1994 and 1995.

UHA won nine All A Classic region titles in Jackson’s 12 seasons at UHA,  The Blazers won All A state titles four times.

Jackson, who also served as athletic director at UHA, left the school after the 2002-03 season with a 228-135 record.

He took the boys’ coaching job at Lincoln County prior to the 2003-04 season.  The Patriots have won eight district and three region titles under Jackson’s watch.  His record at Lincoln County is 339-209.

Jackson is the winningest coach in Lincoln County history and has been inducted into the school’s athletic hall of fame.
