Kinley Deason is wrapping up one sport this week and jumping right into another one as basketball makes the seamless transition to softball.
The Heritage Christian Academy senior was named to the KCAA All-State Tournament in both basketball and softball in 2019. However, 2020 was a tough one for her. Injuries limited her time on the basketball court last year, and COVID-19 caused the spring softball season to be canceled.
Deason has rebounded to lead the Lady Warriors in scoring this season. She and the rest of the Lady Warriors are playing in the KCAA State Tournament this week in Nicholasville.
Deason then gets a few practice days on the softball diamond before HCA begins its season on March 15. Like in basketball, she will be counted on to be a leader for a young squad this spring.
