In a narrative the Todd County Central boys’ basketball team is all too familiar with this season, the Rebels couldn’t close the show in the 4th quarter of a 60-48 loss to hosts Franklin-Simpson on Thursday.
The Wildcats are riding a six-game winning run to improve to 11-2 overall, while the Rebels slip to 4-11 with a trip to face Foundation Christian Academy scheduled for Saturday.
Mareke Johnson tripled his scoring average with 12 first-quarter points to get the Rebels going early, but they only led 14-12 after one.
Andreyas Miller answered with 13 2nd-quarter points for Logan County, and they outscored the Rebels 15-11 to take a narrow 27-25 advantage into the halftime break.
The teams battled back and forth in the third, with Miller adding 4 more points and Demarcus Hogan scoring 5 for the Wildcats. Todd Central’s Amari Andrews scored 4 in the frame, and the Rebels were within a point going to the fourth.
The Rebels only managed 10 points over the final eight minutes, while Franklin-Simpson’ Kyjuan Stutzman scored all 5 of his points in the fourth and Miller capped his 28-point performance with 6 more. Todd Central was outscored by 11 for the final margin.
