With the district tournament seedings already set, officials in Christian County have announced that the Saturday night game between Christian County and Hopkinsville, which was scheduled to be played at Christian County High School, has been canceled.
The Hopkinsville Tigers locked up the number one seed in the tournament with Thursday night’s win at University Heights. The Blazers will be the number two seed, while the Colonels will be the third seed. Hopkinsville will play in the title game and has already clinched a berth in the 2nd Region tournament. UHA and Christian County will play to see who takes on Hoptown in the final.
One has to wonder if the situation that arose this week with Madisonville and Hopkins Central played some factor in making the decision. Both the Lady Storm and the Lady Maroons went into quarantine Thursday. The protocol action led to a rescheduling of the 7th District girls’ tournament to enable both teams to get in under the wire and play for the district title.
For the moment, Christian County has a game against Caldwell County scheduled for next week, while Hopkinsville is set to play UHA.
The two schools are not the only ones to trim back. Earlier in the afternoon, Madisonville-North Hopkins announced their boys’ team was officially ending their regular season, and awaiting the 7th District tournament on March 15.
