Heritage Christian Academy’s basketball season came to a close Friday with a 69-46 loss to Trinity Christian in the quarterfinals of the KCAA State Tournament in Nicholasville.
The Warriors used their long-range shooting to stay close early. HCA got 3-pointers from three different players to put up 17 first quarter points. However, Trinity used a 16-8 second quarter run to grab a 39-25 halftime lead.
Trinity’s lead stayed at 14 points heading into the fourth quarter where they outscored the Warriors 20-11.
Heritage hit 6 of 14 threes in the game but shot 27-percent from the field.
Weston Powell had 11 points and six rebounds for HCA, while Trenton Hayes had eight points and three assists. Carlos Robles, who was named to the All-Tournament team scored six points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
Carter Fischer led Trinity Christian with 29 points.
HCA’s season ends with a record of 8-13. The Warriors have just one senior on its roster as it looks ahead to 2021-22.
