Caldwell County’s girls opened the 2021 tennis season at home on Monday but dropped four matches against Paducah St. Mary.
The Lady Tigers also fell in two other matches against Paducah Home School students.
In singles action against St. Mary:
Josie Shaffer lost to Malleah Smith 8-4;
Kegan Miller fell to Maya Smith 8-3;
and Emma Peake was shut out by Theres Smith 8-0.
Meanwhile, Rachel McClung was defeated by Harmony Pride 6-1, 6-0 in a match that wasn’t included in the team score.
In doubles action:
McClung/Shaffer fell to Pride/Malleah Smith 8-1;
and Miller/Peake lost to Maya Smith/Theres Smith 8-1.
The Lady Tigers defeated St. Mary a year ago in the season opener before COVID-19 brought an early close to the rest of the spring sports schedule.
Caldwell’s girls are scheduled to return to action on Thursday, March 18, when they visit Paducah St. Mary.
