
After almost two weeks away from the court, the Todd County Central girls’ basketball team struggled in a 51-23 loss to hosts Franklin-Simpson on Monday. The Lady Rebels won the first meeting with the Lady Wildcats 59-55 at the end of January.
Playing without leading scoring and rebounder, Lucy Chester, Todd Central was held scoreless in the opening quarter. Kate Norwood and Hadley Turner each scored 5 for the Lady Wildcats, and they led 14-0 after one.
Norwood and Katelyn McAlister each knocked down 3-pointers, and Franklin-Simpson outscored the Lady Rebels 14-4 in the second quarter to lead 28-4 at the halftime break.
Abby Williams hit a pair of 3s and scored all 8 of Todd Central’s third-quarter points, but Turner added 4 more, and Alera Barbee scored 5 of her 13 for a 25-point margin with a quarter to play.
Franklin-Simpson cruised through the fourth, with Turner and Barbee combining for 8 points to outscore the Lady Rebels 14-10 for the final margin.
Todd Central slips to 7-11 with a visit from 13-District foe Logan County coming up on Thursday. Franklin-Simpson moves to 11-6 with its second-straight win and fifth in six tries.
