Henderson’s Sadie Wurth, Crittenden’s Shannon Hodge Named Girls’ Region Player, Coach of the Year

The Kentucky Association of Basketball Coaches has announced their girls’ region award winners. The official announcement of the Girls’ Region Players and Coaches of the year was made Friday morning.

In the 2nd Region, Henderson County’s Sadie Wurth was named the Girls’ Region Player of the Year. Heading into the final week of the season, Wurth was leading the team in scoring at 14.1 points per game, including hitting 43-percent of her shots behind the three-point line. Wurth also averaged 3.2 rebounds per game for the Lady Colonels (14-4), who are looking for their third straight 2nd Region championship.

Crittenden County’s Shannon Hodge was named the 2021 2nd Region Girls’ Coach of the Year. Hodge led the Lady Rockets to a 16-4 record during the regular season.

Crittenden County won the girls’ 2nd Region All A Classic title, and advanced all the way to the final four of the All A Classic in Richmond, before falling to eventual champion Bethlehem.

The Lady Rockets head into the 5th District as the top seed in the tournament and look to make it back-to-back trips into the 2nd Region tournament.
