Sean Thompson is leaving Crittenden County to take the football head coaching job at Paducah Tilghman.
The Crittenden Press reported that Thompson told Rocket players Friday that he is resigning from his Crittenden County post in order to accept another head coaching position. The Marion newspaper said it’s expected that Thompson will be named the new coach at Tilghman.
A 2004 Crittenden County graduate, Thompson took over the Rocket program in 2018, replacing Al Starnes, who stepped down after 27 years in that position.
Thompson has guided Crittenden to three straight district championships while posting a 28-8 record in three seasons on the Rocket sideline.
At Tilghman, Thompson will replace Jonathan Smith, who resigned after three seasons and a record of 22-11.
