
Lyon County and Caldwell County are two of five schools to place two players on the Boys’ All-Second Region Basketball Team as voted on by the coaches.
Travis Perry, the leading scorer in the region, and Jackson Shoulders, the second-leading rebounder, were both named to the team. Perry, a freshman, is averaging 27.3 points a game and shooting 44-percent from 3-point range. He recently scored his 2,000th career point. He was named to the all-region team for the third straight year.
Shoulders, a junior, is averaging 16 points and 10 rebounds a game while hitting 57-percent of his shots.
Caldwell County also had two players named to the team. Senior guard Tripp Branch leads the Tigers in scoring at 19.6 points a game and leads the region with 72 three-pointers made. Junior Jabrion Spikes is also averaging 19 points a game and leads Caldwell County in rebounds at 6.6 per game.
Madisonville’s Kale Gaither was named to the All-Region Team for the third time. The Madisonville senior is averaging 19 points a game and shooting 52-percent from the field. His teammate Zach Tow leads the region in rebounding at 10 per game while scoring at a 9.0 per game clip.
University Heights Academy guards K.J. Crump and D.J. Quarles were both named to the team for a second straight year. Quarles leads the Blazers in scoring at 17.9 points per game, while Crump scores 16 a contest. Quarles is also shooting 42-percent from 3-point range.
Crittenden County seniors Gabe Mott and Preston Turley are also repeat selections with Mott picked for a third straight year. Mott leads the Rockets in scoring at 15.4 points a game. Turley scores 13.4 points and grabs 8.8 rebounds a night.
Webster County’s Destin Allen, who was named the KABC region player of the year Friday, was also named to the all-region team for a second straight year. The senior forward leads the Trojans in scoring at 17.1 points and pulls down 7.5 rebounds a contest.
Trigg County guard De’Von Ladd is a first-time all-region selection after leading the Wildcats in scoring (18.5 ppg.) and 3-pointers made (46).
Hopkinsville’s Alijah Watts led the Tigers in scoring at 14.9 points per game.
Other first-time all-region selections were Hopkins County Central’s Marcus Eaves (17.8 ppg., 7.4 reb.); Union County’s Kaleb Kanipe (13.8 ppg., 9.7 reb.); Henderson County’s Noah Curry (14.2 ppg.); and Livingston Central’s Max Downey (18.5 ppg., 6.8 reb.).
The all-region team is comprised of 13 seniors, two juniors, one sophomore, and one freshman.
