Underclassmen Lead Picks for Girls’ All-Second Region Basketball Team

10 of the 17 players named to the 2021 Girls’ All-Second Region Basketball Team are underclassmen.

Led by the KABC player of the year Sadie Wurth, Henderson County placed two players on the All-Region Team as voted on by the coaches.

Wurth, a senior, leads Henderson County in scoring at 14 points a game while shooting 43-percent from 3-point range.  She was also voted the region player of the year by the state’s coaches association.

Thomas, a sophomore, scored 11 points and led Henderson with nearly seven rebounds a game.

All A region champion Crittenden County also had two players named to the 17-player squad.  Taylor Guess and Nahla Woodward both passed the 1,000-point mark for their careers this season.  Guess, a sophomore, leads the region in scoring at 19.6 points a game. She also grabs 7.7 rebounds a game.

Woodward, a senior, is scoring 11 points and taking down 5.4 rebounds a game.

Trigg County had a pair of players named to the All-Region team for the first time. Junior Marleigh Reynolds leads the Lady Wildcats in scoring, rebounding, and field goal percentage. She is scoring 11 points and grabbing nine rebounds a game.

Phillips, a senior, is scoring 10.7 points and getting six rebounds a game.

Calista Collins, the region’s leading rebounder, is Lyon County’s lone player to receive votes. Collins has upped her scoring to 17 points a game this season and recently moved past 1,000 rebounds for her career.  She averages just under 14 boards a game.

Livingston Central’s Lauren Wring was named to the team. She is second in the region in scoring at 18 points a game and second in rebounds at 11.8.

Another player who scored her 1,000th career point this year was named to the team. Webster County’s Raigan Price led the Lady Trojans in scoring at nearly 13 points a game and seven rebounds.  Sophomore Brooklyn Clark joined Price on the team after scoring 11.7 points a game.

Caldwell County senior Jacey Jaggers returned from a knee injury to score nearly 16 points a game and grab nearly 6.6 rebounds a contest.

Hopkins County Central had two players named to the All-Region team. Junior Briana Fritz scored 12 points a game ad shot 31-percent from 3-point range.  Senior Madison Grigg scored 10.7 points per contest.

Hopkinsville junior Donisha Flowers was named to the team after leading the Lady Tigers with 11.8 points and 7.7 rebounds a game.

Christian County junior Mikayah Killebrew scored 8.7 points a game for the Lady Colonels.

Madisonville’s Destiny Whitsell was the lone freshman named to the team. She led the Lady Maroons in scoring at 11 points a game and grabbed six rebounds.

Union County sophomore Madison Morris was also named to the team after scoring 11 points a game.

The All-Region team is made up of seven seniors, five juniors, four sophomores, and one freshman.
