The University Heights Academy girls’ track team finished third Saturday at the Kentucky Track and Cross Country Coaches Association Class 1A State Indoor Track Meet. The event was held at the new Norton Healthcare Sports and Learning Center in Louisville.
Senior Evelyn Morales scored top-five finishes in three events. She took fourth in the 200-meter dash in 29.13 seconds and was fifth in the 400-meter dash in 1:04.32.
In the hurdle events, Morales was fourth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.54 seconds.
UHA also scored points in four individual running events, a field event, and two relay events.
Jaila Batey was the state runner-up in the shot put with a throw of 27-feet, 10.5 inches.
Piper Hancock was fourth in the 800-meter run in 2:41.37, and Alison Bullen was sixth in 2:56.27.
Audrey Grise finished seventh in the 60-meter dash in 8.90 seconds, just edging teammate Aliviah Acree, who finished .06 seconds back in ninth place. Grise also scored points in the 400-meter dash, taking seventh place in 1:07.15.
Grace Pape was 11th in the 200-meter dash in 32.73 seconds.
Lucinda Wilkins was 13th in the 1500-meter run in a time of 6:38.20.
The 1600-meter relay team of Piper Hancock, Aliviah Acree, Audrey Grise, and Evelyn Morales finished in second place with a time of 4:33.45.
The 3200-meter relay team of Alison Bullen, Grace Pape, Piper Hancock, and Lucinda Wilkins was second with a time of 12:16.
In the field events, Grise was sixth in the long jump with a distance of 14-01.75.
Acree took sixth place in her first career attempt at the triple jump, checking in at 29-feet, 5.75 inches.
Jaila Batey finished second in the shot put with a toss of 27-feet, 10.5 inches. Ragen Pollard was eighth with a toss of 24-feet, 2.75 inches.
The Lady Blazers scored 57 points to finish third behind St. Henry [136] and Collegiate [67].
UHA will open its 2021 outdoor track and field season Saturday at Calloway County.
