Shooting in the final NASP State Tournament of her archery career, Trigg County senior Audie Smith finished in third place, one point out of first place in Louisville Saturday.
Smith’s score of 295 equaled her career-best score and was just one point behind Lincoln County’s McKenzie Settle and Mercer County’s Makayla Shearer who both had the top score among both males and females. The top male score was 295.
It’s the second straight top-five finish for Smith at the state tourney and follows a fifth-place finish in 2019. There was no NASP state tourney last year due to COVID-19.
It’s also the second time Smith has shot a 295 at the state level. She was third with that score at the 2019 KHSAA State Tournament.
Freshman Clayton Litchfield also equaled his career-best score with a 283 to finish in 87th place.
