
The girls’ 5th District basketball tournament has been delayed to Friday due to COVID-19 protocols. Two sources have told YourSportsEdge.com that a positive test within one of the programs caused the delay of the tournament slated to begin play this week at Trigg County.
Schools were made aware of the situation over the weekend. After consulting with coaches, athletic directors, the KHSAA, and the local health department, the decision was made to move the semifinals from Tuesday to Friday and hold the championship game Saturday.
The boys’ tournament will be played as scheduled.
Crittenden County is the No. 1 seed in the 5th District Tournament and will play No. 4 seed Livingston Central Friday at 5:30. No. 2 seed Lyon County will play No. 3 seed Trigg County Friday at 7:45.
The championship will be played Saturday night at 7.
Crittenden County played at Trigg County last Thursday and won 58-50. The player affected played in that game.
Crittenden County is 16-4 and had the second-most wins in the region. Lyon County is 17-7 and has the most wins among region teams.
The region tournament is scheduled to begin next Monday at the location of this week’s district winner. The semifinals and championship game will move to Hopkins County Central.
